Are women allowed to read Qur’an in a melodious recitation – tajwid – or in front of men?

Women may certainly read Qur’an. However, both sexes are encouraged not to employ
melodious tones when reading Qur’an for, as soon as attention is diverted from the Divine revelation to the rendition, the purpose and value of the endeavour is lost. It is acceptable for women to recite Qur’an before a male audience without melodiousness.
