If alcohol is regarded as unclean – najis – should we not reject perfume which contains alcohol?

There are two categories under which alcohol must be considered:

Firstly, when alcohol is used as an intoxicant and secondly, when alcohol is not used as
an intoxicant. Only alcohol used in the first category is considered to be najis.
It is unlikely that perfume manufacturers employ alcohols which are readily drinkable and
able to cause drunkenness. Since you do not have clear information regarding this you should consider that alcohol to be pure – tahir.
